Welcome to America’s Future Quarantine

ree

The COVID-19 pandemic has gripped the world and essentially paralyzed the global economy. Social distancing has become the mantra of the world’s population. Many industries have come to a standstill with thousands of workers losing their jobs in the process. There’s now growing concern that it will take months or even years for the economy to bounce back.

How can an Augmented Reality (AR) technology boost the economy during a pandemic?

Picture a wearable AR technology that monitors the space around you to ensure the CDC recommended 6ft of distance between you and anyone around you. The monitor alarms when you get too close to another human.

The wearable also equips you to identify others who may be sick through infrared technology that provides a visual signal if anyone around you is running a fever. Machine learning integration detects when people exhibit behaviors (like nose wiping or face touching) that signal sickness and germ spread. Then the device warns you of any potential risk in your environment.

The wearable device also provides behavioral cues for the wearer by alarming or vibrating when you touch your face and audio cues to ensure proper handwashing.

Imagine, now a technology similar to Wayz, that would help you navigate from one location to another while avoiding large crowds of people. Instead of helping you avoid traffic jams you are able to avoid large crowds where the chance of viral transmission increases. All of this information is provided in the device.

A technology like this could potentially eliminate the need for broad quarantines. It enables more freedom for individuals to move around in the world freely and spend like normal.
